Coach Herber is entering his 14th year coaching track and field the first 7 at South Salem and the last 7 at West (last 5 as the head coach). He graduated from McNary High School in 1992 where he participated in Track and Footballl. After High School coach Herber moved on to Western Oregon competing in track all four years. In 1998 Coach Herber was voted Assistant Coach of they year and in 2007, 2008 he was voted Central Valley Coach of th year. He currently resides in Salem with his wife Katie and two sons, Isaac and Ian.

Coach Derek Finck is now in his 12th year of coaching track, his second year here at West Salem High School. He has coached several district and state finishers in shot, discus, and javelin. In 2007, Central Valley League coaches selected him as the Assistant Coach of the Year.

Coah Strum was born and raised in Salem, OR. Graduated from South Salem High School in 2005, where he played football and ran track. Graduated last spring from Linfield College with a BA in Economics. Ran track all four years while there.

Coach Samuel is in his first year as an assistant sprint coach at West. He graduated from David Douglas High School in 2004 where he was First Team All League in the Mt. Hood Conference in the 400 Meters and the 1600 Meter Relay. He also received State Honorable Mention in the 400 meters his senior year of high school. He graduated from Western Oregon University in 2008 with a BS in Education. While at WOU he continued his track career as a sprinter for all four years of college, earning GNAC Academic All-Conference in 2007 and was a captain of the 2008 indoor/outdoor GNAC men’s conference championship team. Currently he is completing his master’s degree in the Masters of Arts in Teaching program at Western Oregon University, and is student teaching in health education at West.

Coach Jimenez is entering his 26th season as a high school T&F coach including the last 3 years at West. Prior to joining the Titans, Coach Jimenez spent 16 years as the XC/T&F coach at Sprague HS. Coach Jimenez and his wife Sam have been married for 18 years and have 3 teenage sons (Tyler, Casey, & Jordan).
